Steven ("Steve") Batoff is a Principal at Batoff Associates, P.A. as well as the founder of the firm.
Steve has significant experience in the areas of estate planning, business law, employee benefits, tax law, and employment law. He is a past chairman of the Maryland State Bar Association Tax Section’s Committee on Employee Benefits. Mr. Batoff has been selected as one of the top-rated “Labor & Employment” lawyers in the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore publication, Legal Leaders. In addition, Steve has been recognized as a major Baltimore leader by Smart CEO magazine.
Previously, Steve served as counsel with the Office of Special Counsel during the investigation of the 1986 Savings & Loan Crisis.
The firm’s wide range of clients includes hospitals and health care providers, universities, manufacturers, tax-exempt organizations, and financial institutions. Steve advises clients on plan design and implementation, compliance advising, employee communications, plan testing, service provider guidance, and plan termination. Steve counsels his clients in matters pertaining to coordination of employee benefit matters with securities laws, as well as federal and state tax regulations and employment law requirements (ADEA, ADA, Civil Rights Act of 1964, COBRA, FMLA, ERISA). Steve advises numerous clients with regard to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
